Mission Possible Podcast Presents Concrete Ideas on How to Improve Nursing Homes

Together, the Green House Project, Consumer Voice and AMDA have curated seven podcast episodes that comprise a series of powerful, hard-hitting, comprehensive overviews of what’s wrong with the nursing home sector - and how it can be fixed. Focused conversations on big-picture topics in the Mission Possible podcast include:

  • Reimagining nursing home design: exactly how can nursing home owners and operators do well by shifting to private rooms and household/small house configurations?
  • Solving the workforce crisis: expansion and empowerment of the “CareForce”
  • Nursing home reporting: how do we find out who is in the nursing home sector today, and how do we hold them accountable?
  • Why do we need national safe staffing standards?

Listen to the Mission Possible podcast series now.

Sponsor the Consumer Voice Conference

2023 CV Conference logoJoin us as a sponsor of the 47th Annual Consumer Voice Conference, October 31-November 1 in Baltimore! Sponsorship offers multiple ways to increase your visibility with our attendees and publicly promote your alignment with Consumer Voice.

Our conference continues to grow in size! Last year, we had nearly 700 participants (in-person and virtual) from 47 states and the District of Columbia, 30 sessions, and more than 80 speakers. By joining us as a sponsor, you will have the opportunity to reach more people over multiple days than ever before both in-person and virtually. Attendees represent long-term care Ombudsman programs, citizen advocates, long-term care residents, family members, government officials, policy experts, attorneys, direct care staff, and others who come together for the latest information on national policy issues, skills-based training, best practices, and advocacy strategies. You don't want to miss being a part of this important event!

Nursing Home Inspect Website Displays Searchable Information from Nursing Home Inspection Reports

ProPublica's Nursing Home Inspect website provides consumers an easy way to search over 90,000 nursing home inspection reports.  The information can be used to look for trends or patterns, evaluate nursing homes in your area, or compare nursing homes by state. The site displays deficiency citations, scope and severity of deficiencies, and penalties imposed. Users can search by facility, state, county, or by keyword (e.g., abuse).

Remembering Hollis Turnham

Consumer Voice is saddened by the passing of long-time advocate and friend of Consumer Voice, Hollis Turnham.  For decades, Hollis was a prominent figure advocating for older adults in Michigan. She started her career as an elder law attorney. She then served as the Michigan State Long-Term Care Ombudsman for 16 years and worked for PHI - Quality Care Through Quality Jobs for 15 years.  She was an unrelenting advocate for people who used long-term services and supports. Hollis will be greatly missed.
